Another herri is always received with excitement, trepidation and that curious delight that comes from being confronted by one’s own limitations and ignorance. I have not engaged with all of it by any means, but I was very struck by Mphutlane wa Bofelo’s Ten New Poems. I do not get all the references, of course, but the anger and passion are palpable. The performance that the one poem alludes to (I think) ‘Somebody Blew Up America‘ is amazing. I am appalled I have never come across this before. Likewise the work of Anton Shammas is new to me. Thank you for expanding my world.
